Update the tracking link in Shopify order confirmation

Last updated July 1, 2026

By default, the Track your order button in Shopify’s shipping confirmation email sends customers to the carrier’s website — a generic page full of the carrier’s branding, ads, and zero connection to your store. This guide shows you how to make that button open your branded Parcel Track tracking page instead.

When an order is fulfilled, Shopify stores a tracking URL on the fulfillment. That URL is what the “Track your order” button uses. It’s set in one of three ways:

  1. Automatically by the carrier or fulfillment service — Shopify recognizes the tracking number format and links to the matching carrier site.
  2. By your fulfillment app — 3PLs, print-on-demand, and dropshipping apps often write their own URL to the fulfillment.
  3. Manually — whoever fulfills the order pastes a URL in the fulfillment form.

Parcel Track can rewrite this URL for you: whenever a fulfillment is created or updated, the app replaces the carrier link with a link to your tracking page that opens the shipment directly — no lookup form needed.

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps → Parcel Track → Settings.
  2. Find the Shopify tracking link section.
  3. Toggle on Replace carrier tracking URLs with my tracking page.
  4. Click Save.

From this point on, every new fulfillment gets a branded tracking URL like:

https://yourstore.com/apps/parcel-track?nums=1Z999AA10123456784

Shopify then uses that URL everywhere it shows a tracking link:

  • The Shipping confirmation and Out for delivery / Delivered emails
  • The order status page after checkout
  • The order details view inside Shopify customer accounts

Note: The setting applies to fulfillments created after you enable it. Orders fulfilled earlier keep the carrier URL that was already saved. If you need older orders updated too, contact support@parcel-track.com.

Verify it’s working

  1. Fulfill a test order with a real tracking number (or wait for the next live fulfillment).
  2. Open the order in Shopify admin and check the fulfillment’s tracking link — it should point to your store domain.
  3. Click it. Your branded tracking page should open with the shipment already loaded, showing the status timeline and map.

Why this matters

  • Traffic stays on your store. Customers check tracking 3–5 times per order on average. Each visit lands on your domain, where product recommendations can turn a tracking check into a new sale.
  • Consistent branding. Your colors, fonts, and layout — not the carrier’s.
  • Fewer support tickets. Your page shows clear statuses and estimated delivery dates, which answers “where is my order?” before customers email you.

Working with dropshipping or 3PL apps?

Some fulfillment apps overwrite the tracking URL after Parcel Track sets it. If you notice carrier links reappearing, check the order timeline in Shopify to see which app updated the fulfillment last. Parcel Track re-applies your branded URL when tracking info changes, but if you run a dropshipping stack, see the dropshipping guide for the recommended setup.

Tip: You can also add or adjust the tracking link inside Shopify’s notification email templates themselves — useful if you want to change the button text or placement. See Add a tracking link to Shopify emails. And if you’d rather customers not see the raw tracking number in Shopify emails at all, see Remove the tracking number from Shopify emails.
