Embed an order lookup widget on any page

Last updated July 1, 2026

The order lookup widget is a compact search box — order number and email, or a tracking number — that you can drop into any page of your store. When a customer submits it, they’re taken straight to your branded tracking page with their shipment loaded.

It’s the fastest way to make tracking discoverable without dedicating a whole page section to it. Popular placements include:

  • Homepage — a small “Track your order” section near the footer
  • FAQ / Help page — right under the “Where is my order?” question
  • Footer — visible on every page of your store
  • Contact page — deflects WISMO (“where is my order?”) tickets before they’re sent

Widget vs. full page embed

The widget is just the lookup form. If you want the entire tracking experience (timeline, map, EDD, recommendations) rendered inline on a page, use the full page HTML embed instead.

Step 1: Copy the widget snippet

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps → Parcel Track → Tracking Page.
  2. Open the Order lookup widget section.
  3. Choose the lookup mode you want the widget to show by default:
    • Order number + email — best for most stores; customers rarely know their tracking number.
    • Tracking number — useful if you sell B2B or customers forward tracking numbers around.
    • Both — shows a toggle between the two.
  4. Click Copy code. The snippet looks similar to:
<div class="parcel-track-widget"></div>
<script async src="https://cdn.parcel-track.com/widget.js"></script>

Always copy the snippet from your own admin — it’s tied to your store.

Step 2: Paste it where you want it

Option A: Into a page

  1. Go to Online Store → Pages and open the page (or click Add page).
  2. In the content editor, click the <> (Show HTML) button.
  3. Paste the snippet where you want the widget to appear and click Save.
  1. Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.
  2. Navigate to the template you want (e.g. the footer or homepage).
  3. Click Add section (or Add block inside an existing section) and choose Custom Liquid (on most themes) or Custom HTML.
  4. Paste the snippet and click Save.

Tip: In the theme editor you can position the section anywhere by dragging it in the left sidebar — no code editing required.

Styling the widget

The widget inherits the theme colors and fonts you set under Tracking Page settings, so it matches your tracking page automatically. For finer control — width, border radius, button text size — target the widget’s classes with custom CSS. If you paste the widget into a theme section, you can also add page-specific CSS in that section’s settings.

What customers see

  1. The customer enters their order number and the email used at checkout (or a tracking number).
  2. They’re redirected to your tracking page with the shipment open, showing the current status, timeline, and map.
  3. If no match is found, the tracking page explains what to check — see Why can’t my customer find their order?.

Note: Order lookups require the email to match the one on the Shopify order exactly. This prevents anyone from looking up another customer’s shipment by guessing order numbers.

Measuring usage

Widget searches count as tracking page visits, so you can see how often customers use it — and what they click afterwards — in Analytics. See Tracking page analytics.
